Now Division\nPresident of Southern Colorado, Natasha recognizes that to be successful,\nhomebuilding leadership needs to evaluate a variety of economic factors when\npositioning itself in the marketplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cDespite the challenges of the pandemic, we\u2019re in a strong housing market,\u201d Natasha says, \u201cBut there\u2019s a shortage of housing caused by rising demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Natasha, affordability is the biggest obstacle\nfacing homebuilders right now. Every builder seems to be scrambling to react to\na growing need for affordable options in new home construction. But the problem\nis more complex than building inexpensive houses. More and more millennials are\nentering the market. They\u2019re savvy and they\u2019re looking for more than the\ncheapest possible living space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cEvery builder has a strategy for the affordability problem,\u201d Natasha says, \u201cAnd that sometimes means cutting down on design choices. We\u2019ve found a way to be a premier brand and offer those selections even within the affordable market.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And the market is responding. The success of the company\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.richmondamerican.com\/campaigns\/364\" target=\"_blank\">Seasons\u2122 Collection<\/a>, a series of homes with a smaller footprint that still offer features such as center-meet sliding doors and 9-foot main-floor ceilings, is available in most of the areas where Richmond American builds. The company\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.richmondamerican.com\/agent-blog\/top-closing-floor-plan-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\">top-closing floor plan in 2019<\/a> was from this collection and a second affordable line of homes with duplex-style plans, the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.richmondamerican.com\/campaigns\/1147\" target=\"_blank\">Urban Collection\u2122<\/a>, is rolling out in select markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Natasha credits <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.richmondamerican.com\/Governance\/Team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Larry Mizel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.richmondamerican.com\/Governance\/Team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Mandarich<\/a> for creating a solid foundation that allows senior management within Richmond American Homes Companies to lead from a place of strength. \u201cRichmond American has a lot of history; the processes are in place and we know what we\u2019re good at. It allows us to be more innovative and less reactionary to the whims of the market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That innovation includes developing land in a way that\npreserves open spaces, creating neighborhoods that work alongside the existing\ntopography, not against it. \u201cTaking a piece of land, developing it and helping\nfamilies build their dreams.
