Convenient access to I-80, I-5, CA-113 and US-99 put a variety of employment opportunities and other attractions within easy reach. The University of California-Davis campus and an array of other state and private colleges are also in commuting range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Character:<\/strong> Dixon\u2019s low population (<a href=\"https:\/\/solanoedc.org\/data-center\/city-and-county-profiles\/city-profiles\/dixon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">just over 20,000 people<\/a>) helps it maintain a small-town, close-knit sense of community. Here, you can find quiet neighborhoods, abundant parks, scenic rural landscapes and a mix of local Mom-and-Pop shops alongside other retail and restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Things to do:<\/strong> Dixon is home to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dixonmayfair.com\/general-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">May Fair<\/a>, the oldest state fair in California, as well as the Lambtown Festival and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coolpatchpumpkins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">world\u2019s largest corn\/crop maze<\/a>. Its thriving agricultural community brings with it popular farmer\u2019s markets and touring\/tasting opportunities at nearby milk, olive and pumpkin farms, as well as picturesque nature preserves. Situated in the Central Valley, they\u2019re about 75 miles from San Francisco and 45 miles from San Jose. Major commuter routes include I-5, I-205 and SR-120, which provide easy access to Stockton, Tracy, Pleasanton, Modesto and Bay Area suburbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Character: <\/strong>The area\u2019s population boasts rich diversity and a growth rate that puts Lathrop and Manteca among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dof.ca.gov\/Forecasting\/Demographics\/Estimates\/E-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">California\u2019s top fastest growing<\/a>, according to the State Department of Finance\u2019s May 2021 rankings. Lathrop was #3 and Manteca was #14, in case you were wondering. Multiple master-planned community projects in Lathrop, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.richmondamerican.com\/california\/bay-area-new-homes\/lathrop\/search\/masterplan-stanford-crossing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stanford Crossing<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.richmondamerican.com\/california\/bay-area-new-homes\/lathrop\/search\/masterplan-river-islands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">River Islands<\/a>, reflect the city\u2019s plans for intelligent expansion. For those more in the mood for sips than bites, several nearby vineyards and wineries offer tastings. I-4 and CA-160 are easily accessible for Tri-Valley-area commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Character:<\/strong> Incorporated in 1999, Oakley is among California\u2019s youngest cities. It has a population of roughly 45,000 and, according to its vision statement, maintaining its small-town character is a priority for the city\u2019s leadership, even as the city grows&nbsp;to invite new residents and businesses to the area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Things to do: <\/strong>If you love fishing, hiking, boating, biking or bird watching, you\u2019ll want to check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebparks.org\/parks\/big_break\/default.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Break<\/a>. It was one of the first planned communities in the country, and today offers a balanced mix of recreational, retail, educational and residential areas. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Things to do: <\/strong>Concerts, comedy shows, dance programs and more take the stage at Sonoma State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/gmc.sonoma.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Music Center<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonomacounty.com\/night-life\/somo-concerts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0SOMO Concerts\u2019<\/a> 3,000-seat outdoor venue, and the city-owned Spreckels Performing Arts Center. The Solano County community enjoys convenient access to I-80 and the Napa and Sonoma wine countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Character:<\/strong><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em>With just over 100,000 residents, Vacaville is large enough to offer abundant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitvacaville.com\/blog\/vacavilles-lagoon-valley-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">amenities and activities<\/a>, but small enough to maintain a hometown atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Things to do: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitvacaville.com\/blog\/vacavilles-lagoon-valley-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lagoon Valley Park<\/a> offers over 470 acres of scenic open space with biking, hiking and horseback-riding trails winding through rolling hills. There, you\u2019ll also find a 27-basket disc golf course, fishing and paddle-boating opportunities and a fenced, 30,000 sq. ft. off-leash dog park.
