Nicknamed “Vision City,” there\u2019s always plenty of fun things to see and<\/em> do in Rio Rancho!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culture & entertainment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 7,000-seat Rio Rancho Events Center<\/a> regularly hosts concerts, events, shows, conferences, banquets and more. Other local live entertainment venues include the Santa Ana Star Casino<\/a>, Isleta Amphitheater<\/a>, Tingley Coliseum<\/a>, the Sunshine Theater<\/a> and the KiMo Theater<\/a>. If you\u2019re craving more educational fare, the Coronado Historic Site<\/a>, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science<\/a> and the New Mexico Museum of Military History<\/a> should have what you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor recreation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Central New Mexico\u2019s favorable climate<\/a> allows residents to enjoy the great outdoors year-round. Popular activities in the area include hiking and biking in the nearby Sandia<\/a> and Manzano Mountains<\/a> as well as driving along the Jemez Byway<\/a> and walking or rollerblading through the the Paseo del Bosque Trail<\/a>.  Clear blue skies, calm winds and mild temperatures are the norm in Sandoval County, which is one of the reasons it has become known as the hot air ballooning capital<\/a> of the country. Rio Rancho offers an impressive roster of local golf courses<\/a> and has several sports facilities<\/a> open for public use. The city also boasts New Mexico\u2019s first fully inclusive and accessible playground, A Park Above<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shopping & dining<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No shortage of culinary delights<\/a> can be found in Rio Rancho. Popular restaurants in the city include K’Lynn’s Southern & Cajun Fusion<\/a>, Lily & Liam Bistro<\/a>, O’Hare’s Grille & Pub<\/a> and many more.<\/a> There are also several craft breweries<\/a> and wineries<\/a> in the area, three of which are part of the notable Corrales Wine Loop<\/a>. In terms of retail therapy, prominent shopping destinations in the city include the Rio Rancho Marketplace and the Plaza at Enchanted Hills.        <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live sporting events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Rio Rancho Event Center is home to professional indoor football<\/a> and soccer<\/a> teams while a AAA-level baseball<\/a> team competes out of the nearby Isotopes Park. The University of New Mexico\u2019s NCAA Division I football program\u2019s<\/a> home games are played at University Stadium, which has a capacity of over 39,000. The school\u2019s men\u2019s<\/a> and women\u2019s basketball<\/a> programs, meanwhile, hit the floor at an arena known as \u201cThe Pit<\/a>,\u201d which can accommodate over 15,000 fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
