While offering a healthy dose of merriment, the holiday season can also take a toll on your lifestyle\u2014especially when it comes to keeping your home clean and clutter-free. Now that the new year is upon us, what better time to get your living space tidied up and organized? Here are five items to consider adding to your 2025 decluttering checklist: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Purge, purge, purge \u2611 <\/span> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Did the holidays make your home feel even more cluttered and disorganized than normal? Now that you\u2019ve got the \u201cin with the new\u201d part down (e.g., all those gifts from friends, family and the man in red), it\u2019s time to move on to the \u201cout with the old\u201d portion of the idiom. What you don\u2019t throw away, consider donating to a local charity that accepts clothes, electronics, appliances and other items in good condition. You can also host a garage sale<\/a> to kick off 2025 with some extra cash!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that you\u2019re putting away your holiday decorations and everything else you magically accumulated during the year, make sure your belongings are stored in the proper place and as efficiently as possible. If you have multiple bins with tree ornaments or art supplies, consolidate them into fewer containers and try to store them alongside other similarly themed boxes so you\u2019re not scrambling to find what you\u2019re looking for when you need it. Be sure to properly label everything as well. In the event you do make a move in 2025, this will make it much easier to unpack and organize your belongings in your next home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Reconfigure & recalibrate \u2611<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes simply moving around your furniture can make a big difference in terms of how your home flows and functions. As you assess the various rooms in your home, consider ways to maximize and optimize your living space. You can also take this opportunity to think of new ways to decorate your home\u2019s interior<\/a>, potentially freshening and livening up the homestead for the new year.
