However, buying new over resale boasts another big benefit that many buyers often overlook: less home maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t have the time, inclination or funds to remodel or repair a resale home? Here are some ways in which a brand-new build may require a lot less upkeep:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nice and new (and not just to you!)<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen you move into a never-been-lived-in home, everything is brand new. You\u2019re the first person to bake chocolate chip cookies in the shiny oven and the first to load up the dishwasher. Those appliances probably won\u2019t need to be repaired\u2014much less replaced\u2014for quite a while. Even if the appliances in a resale appear to be relatively new, there\u2019s no guarantee that they\u2019ve been properly maintained by the last tenant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Easier exterior<\/strong><br \/>\nEven the facade of a brand-new home generally requires less maintenance than that of a resale. New homes are typically made with modern materials, designed to outlast their older counterparts. You may have to pay for a costly exterior paint job on a resale home shortly after purchase. Not so with new.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy efficiency<\/strong><br \/>\nNew homes typically <a href=\"http:\/\/startfresh.newhomesource.com\/energy-efficiency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consume much less energy<\/a> than those built decades (or even just five years) ago, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.resnet.us\/hers-index-large-scale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RESNET HERS\u00ae Index<\/a>.
