Hampden, which gained its fame from John Waters\u2019 movies, such as <em>Hairspray<\/em>, was named one of \u201cThe 12 Coolest Neighborhoods in America\u201d by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thrillist.com\/travel\/nation\/coolest-neighborhoods-in-america-the-mission-wicker-park-and-highland-park-top-our-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thrillist.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What makes this Charm City neighborhood so incredibly, well\u2026 charming? For starters, its main thoroughfare, 36<sup>th<\/sup> Street (<em>known to locals as simply \u201cThe Avenue\u201d<\/em>), is home to myriad art galleries, museums, coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques.<\/p>\n<p>The neighborhood is also known for its farmer\u2019s markets, food trucks and overall walkability (thanks, in large part, to the convenient Woodberry Light Rail Station).
