Making a new home in Colorado Springs

New homes in the Colorado Springs area

You don’t have to look hard to see why many choose to call Colorado Springs home. Nestled against beautiful mountains and inimitable red rock formations, this bustling metropolis offers boundless recreation right at your doorstep, along with exceptional shopping, dining and entertainment options.

    Recreation

A renowned outdoor and recreational paradise, Colorado Springs offers an abundance of trails, unique natural formations and mountain landscapes, plus easy access to one of the nation’s most iconic 14ers: Pikes Peak. With a new home in the Colorado Springs area, you’ll never be short on options for outdoor adventure and incredible scenery.

    Cheyenne Mountain State Park
One of Colorado’s newest and most spectacular protected areas, Cheyenne Mountain State Park treats visitors to a natural playground teeming with wildlife and boasting hiking, camping, biking and more—all within a quick drive of downtown Colorado Springs.

    Garden of the Gods
Over 1,300 acres of majestic sandstone formations dazzle the eye at every turn in this iconic National Natural Landmark. And almost as astounding, it’s completely free—part of a longstanding agreement between the city and the original owner’s family to keep it free to the public. There’s hiking, biking, rock climbing, along with guided tours by trolley, Jeep and Segway. And make sure to set aside time for the educational exhibits at the Visitor & Nature Center.

    Seven Falls
Described as “Colorado’s grandest mile,” this natural wonder is really one mighty waterfall tumbling down a scenic cul-de-sac canyon in seven cascades, lit up at night to absolutely stunning effect. A switchback stairway allows visitors to scale the canyon right alongside the falls. And if you reach the top, you’ll have access to beautiful hiking trails—one of which follows Cripple Creek to Midnight Falls. Currently part of The Broadmoor resort—though it’s undergone several ownership changes since the late 1880s—the Seven Falls area also offers dining, shopping, zip-lining and a gallery showcasing fossils and minerals.

    Pikes Peak
One of the United States most accessible 14ers—with a highway taking you right to the summit—Pikes Peak famously inspired the song “America the Beautiful.” Its namesake Zebulon Pike documented the peak on an expedition to explore the geography of the Louisiana Purchase under the authority of President Thomas Jefferson, and ever since it’s been an endless source of fascination for visitors from all over the world, inspiring the nickname “America’s Mountain.” There are many ways to take in this famous landmark, whether by car, hiking, biking and even cog railway.

    Manitou Incline
Formed from an old railroad line that closed after a rock slide, wooden rail ties have been converted into a punishing series of steps that ascend nearly 2,000 feet in less than a mile. Trail access is free for those up to the challenge, and you may even bump into Olympic athletes venturing out from the US Olympic & Paralympic Training Center to test the limits of their physical endurance in nature.

    Local culture

From Native American roots and scenic destinations to world-class establishments and military installations, Colorado Springs is home to a rich variety of cultural institutions. Here are a few attractions you’ll want to put on your list to explore the diverse influences that make Colorado Springs a city unlike any other.

    Rock Ledge Ranch
This historic ranch sits directly adjacent to the Garden of the Gods, and offers a blast from the past in the form of preserved structures from previous inhabitants, complete with actors dressed in period clothing to demonstrate what life used to be like on the site—spanning from the lifestyle of the Ute tribe in the 1700s to life at the orchard house built by city founder General Palmer in the early 1900s.

    The Broadmoor
One of Colorado’s most prestigious hotel resorts, this five-star establishment has been in the business of wowing guests since 1918. In addition to world-class architecture and room accommodations, The Broadmoor boasts three golf courses, a fitness center, tennis facilities, a 60,000-square-foot ballroom, numerous restaurants and more.

    Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
At 6,800 feet above sea level, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is billed as the only mountain zoo in America. It’s also where you can hand-feed giraffes, ride an antique carousel and go on a chairlift skyride for a panoramic view of the zoo and city. Other animal residents include grizzly bears, primates, elephants, rhinos, marsupials and big cats.

    Olympic & Paralympic Training Center
The first of two official training centers built in the United States, the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center houses sports facilities for athletes in boxing, cycling, figure skating, gymnastics, Judo, pentathlon, shooting, swimming and wrestling. Guided tours of the grounds are available to visitors.
